Unique selection of works of art from a private collection

Lucien Arkas collection

There is still time to see this wonderful exhibition of various works from the private collection of Lucien Arkas on display until 30th March 2014. Sixty exceptional art works have been carefully selected (off the walls of his house) by the Musée de Lodève, from over a thousand which is one of the most important collections in Turkey.

From Corot to Kisling, the selection illustrates the key movements in art history from Impressionism to Neo-impressionism, Pont-Aven, Nabis and Fauvism. Initially focused on Turkish painting, the Arkas collection has concentrated since 2005 on European painting of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The exhibition is displayed around four themes (portraits, nudes, landscapes and general scenes) and offers an original set of works from artists who, at the turn of the last century, paved the way to avant-gardes.
